A field in England

This article explores how difficult it can be for low budget films as most blockbuster films spend millions. It talks about how .It also explores the distribution of films and how there are different ways a film can be distributed, depending on what will have the most effective outcome. The distributor has to take many factors into account, for instance finance and the target audience. It touches on the fact distribution costs are dominated by Hollywood. Furthermore it states the the film was hard to film as it was shot in one external location.

Industrial evolution:Andy Strak influences A field in England's release strategy and how it shows the evolution and democratisation of film distribution. It talks about how it was released on TV, cinema VHS and DVD simultaneously.
Screening/radical release The commissioning executive Anna Higgs on screening an early cut of the film for the first time to her fellow executives at Film 4 and the ground-breaking release plans that followed...Audience Cult classic film. A Field in England was different to other films in terms of how it was released. It was released on DVD VoD TV and cinema on the same day.

The advantage of doing this is that the movie is available everywhere reaching a potentially bigger audience and no one misses out.

A disadvantage is that it can potentially make less money as instead of people paying premium price to watch it in the cinema they will stay home and watch it for free on TV

A Field in England is targeted at a niche audience specifically middle class people who are willing to pay extra to view it in a art house cinema.

I think the process will be the same because Hollywood would be able to get the money back through events like premiers. People who are keen to watch blockbuster films has no choice but to watch the film at the cinema. If they released their movies at the same time across all platforms they wont generate as much revenue
Chicken was unable to distribute and release in 2014 because no distributors were willing to offer them a deal as they thought that the movie wouldn't catch the eyes of a mainstream audience. Additionally, this movie was produced by a new director and featured new actors so there wasn't enough publicity or advertisement.
