Postmodernism

1) Read the section on Strinati's five ways to define postmodernity. What examples are provided of the breakdown of the distinction between culture and society (media-isation)? One example provided of the break down of the distinction between culture and society are the characters played by the actor Sacha Baron Cohen due to the fact the characters he plays, he brings them to life and they are considered as 'real' to their audiences. The way in which he does this is by only being interviewed in character and not as him self. This gives him a type of power to be able to get away with saying and doing certain things he would not be able to do out of character.Another example of the break down of the distinction between culture and society are X Factor contestants who sing covers of previous songs that have already been made and covered by other artists.  For instance John and Edward sang 'We Will Rock You' ~ Queen but performed 'the five year' version. 2)

Mail Online review of Capital 1) Re-read the  Mail Online review of  Capital . Why does it suggest that  Capital  features a left-wing ideology? The review mentions various of things which support this left wing ideology from references to Jeremy Corbyn to how the show represents and empowers the working class. Capital is seen to show different ethnic working class groups who are seen to be working hard in their lives to support themselves or their family. An example being Quentina, an immigrant from Africa who works illegally and extremely hard to support herself and earn a living.
